Children, mental illness,
and the justice system One of the most critical issues in society
today is the shameful shift of children suffering from emotional disorders
from the mental health system to the juvenile justice system. Juvenile justice project
update For the past several years MACED, in
association with volunteers has assisted with cases of children with
emotional disorders charged with offences in the juvenile justice system Advisory board positions
open The advisory board to the juvenile justice
project is currently looking for additional members. Gov. Granholm announces
mental health commission to be appointed Governor Granholm announced that she will
appoint a special commission to examine the state’s mental health system. IDEA Reauthorization
update The senate is about to take action on their
version of IDEA Reauthorization. Lobbying trip to
Washington, D.C. The Kalamazoo and Southfield offices of
MACED are organizing a lobbying trip to Washington, D.C. Children’s mental health
and education What do you do if your child, diagnosed
with an anxiety or mood disorder, cannot attend classes successfully... Volunteers needed for
holiday card drive The Association needs volunteers to assist
with the holiday card drive: mailings;
selling; promotion, etc. Contact with State
Senators needed on parity bills Legislation moving Michigan toward parity
in private mental health coverage may be reported out this fall... |
