The shameful shift of children suffering from emotional disorders from the mental health system to the juvenile justice system.

For the past se veral years MACED has assisted with cases of children with mental illness charged with criminal offences.

MACED is currently developing an advocacy project in honor of the late Harry J. Nederlander.

The Association is always looking for new ways to improve the mental healthcare system for children and we welcome your suggestions for new programs.

Susan McParland, Esq.

Executive Director

Susan McParland has been Executive Director of MACED since February, 2001. Prior to that time, she was a public interest lawyer at Michigan Legal Services for 16 years, three of those years she served as director. Susan specialized in welfare law, Medicaid law, mental health law, rights of confined individuals and juvenile rights. She has litigated several cases involving the right to adequate mental health services for children, adults and incarcerated individuals.

David Rose

Administrative Assistant

David Rose, Administrative Assistant, assists with business operations and provides critical support to the organization?s administration.
